Instance Settings¶
Instance Settings lets you choose which Zendesk configuration types Configly syncs for each connection. Disabling a type stops future syncs for that type but preserves any existing snapshots. Re-enabling a type pulls fresh data on the next sync.
Accessing Instance Settings¶
- Open a connection dashboard
- Click the gear icon in the dashboard header
- The settings page shows all types grouped into categories

Enterprise-only types
Some types (e.g., Routing Attributes, Queues) are only available on Zendesk Enterprise plans. Configly detects these automatically and hides unavailable types from your navigation.
How It Works¶
Each type has a toggle switch. When you change the selection and click Save:
- Disabling a type stops syncing that type on future full syncs. Existing snapshots are preserved -- you can still view, compare, and search historical data for that type.
- Re-enabling a type includes it in the next sync, pulling fresh data from Zendesk.
- Category controls let you select or deselect all types in a category at once.
Disabling types with dependencies
If you disable a type that other enabled types depend on (e.g., disabling Groups while Triggers are still enabled), dependency mapping and broken reference detection may report incomplete results for the disabled type.
Default Configuration¶
All 41 types are enabled by default. New connections start with every type turned on so your first sync captures everything. Types that are unavailable on your Zendesk plan (e.g., enterprise-only features) are automatically detected and hidden.
Optimising Sync Times¶
Sync time is proportional to the number of enabled types. If you only need to track certain types, disabling the rest speeds up every sync:
| Enabled Types | Typical Sync Time (Small Instance) |
|---|---|
| All 41 types | 30--90 seconds |
| Objects & Rules only (19 types) | 10--30 seconds |
| Business Rules only (6 types) | 3--10 seconds |
Start broad, narrow later
Enable all types for your first few syncs to get a complete picture of your Zendesk instance. Once you know which types matter most to your team, disable the rest to reduce sync times.
