What Are Categories?

Categories are the top-level organisational units in your Zendesk Guide help centre. They group related sections together and form the primary navigation structure for your knowledge base.

What Configly Captures

For each category, Configly stores:

  • Category name and description
  • Position -- display order in the help centre
  • Locale -- the category's language
  • Created and updated timestamps

Tips for Admins

  • Use snapshot comparison to track help centre structural changes
  • Review the hierarchy: Categories > Sections > Articles to ensure content is logically organised
  • Sections -- mid-level groupings within categories
  • Articles -- content within the hierarchy
