Locales¶
What Are Locales?¶
Locales represent the languages supported by your Zendesk instance. They determine which languages are available for agents, end-users, and content like dynamic content items and help centre articles.
What Configly Captures¶
Configly syncs your locale list as read-only lookup data. For each locale:
- Locale code -- e.g.,
en-US,fr,de - Display name -- e.g., "English (United States)"
- Default status -- whether it's the default locale
Read-only
Locales are synced for visibility only. The Zendesk API does not support creating or modifying locales programmatically. What-If editing is not available for this type.

Why Locales Matter¶
Tracking locales helps you:
- Audit language coverage -- see which languages your instance supports
- Cross-reference with dynamic content -- the health check flags dynamic content items missing variants for enabled locales (DYNCON-001)
Related Objects¶
- Dynamic Content -- localised content items that need variants for each locale
