Tags¶
What Are Tags?¶
Tags are labels applied to tickets, users, and organisations in Zendesk. They're widely used in trigger conditions, automation logic, and view filters. Tags are one of the most common cross-references in Zendesk configuration.
What Configly Captures¶
Configly syncs your complete tag list for visibility and dependency mapping. For each tag, you can see:
- Tag name
- Usage count -- how many tickets, users, or organisations use the tag
Read-only
Tags are synced for visibility and dependency mapping only. The Zendesk API does not support creating or modifying tags as standalone objects -- they are created implicitly when applied to tickets. What-If editing is not available for this type.

Why Tags Matter¶
Syncing tags enables powerful dependency queries:
- "Which triggers add or check for this tag?"
- "Which automations depend on a tag that no longer exists?"
- "Which macros set tags that no other rule checks for?"
This makes tags essential for auditing and cleanup, even though they cannot be edited directly.
Related Objects¶
- Triggers -- rules that add, remove, or check for tags
- Automations -- time-based rules that reference tags
- Macros -- agent actions that add or remove tags
- Views -- filtered lists that may filter by tag
